Columbia University is located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. The main entrance to the Morningside Heights campus is on 116th Street and Broadway; the Medical Center can be found at 168th Street and Broadway. Both campuses are easily accessible by public transportation or car, and a shuttle bus offers free service between them.
The Morningside Heights campus houses the three undergraduate schools—Columbia College, the Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science, and the School of General Studies—as well as graduate and professional schools for architecture, art, arts and sciences, business, international affairs, journalism, law, and social work. The School of Continuing Education is also on the Morningside Heights campus.
The Visitors Center, located in room 213 of Low Library, welcomes more than 45,000 visitors each year and serves as a central location for prospective students and visitors seeking general information about Columbia University.
For a current schedule of Undergraduate Admissions information
sessions and campus tours for prospective students and their families,
please
see
Visiting Columbia.
A campus tour for all others—prospective graduate students,
tourists, and new employees—is available weekdays at 1 p.m. A
special campus tour for students at middle schools can be arranged by
calling the Visitors Center. Please note the Visitors Center will not
conduct group tours from May 10 to June 3. The campus will be closed to visitors during commencement ceremonies the week of May 19-23. We will resume our
regular schedule on Monday, June 2, 2008.
The School of General Studies (GS), an undergraduate college for nontraditional and returning students who have had a break of one year or more in their education, also offers a campus tour followed by an information session for which reservations are required. Please see GS Campus Visits for a schedule.
Reservations for tours offered through the Visitors Center are only required for groups of ten or more. Any group larger than ten must request a visit at least three weeks prior to the date of your intended visit. Tours in languages other than English are also available upon request. The Visitors Center is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, except during University holidays. Please call (212) 854-4900 or email Natalie Hodgson at ngh2107@columbia.edu to make reservations for group tours or for additional information. Please note that submitting a request does not confirm your group visit. Your group visit to campus is only confirmed after you have received an email from Natalie Hodgson approving your request.
The Columbia University Medical Center, located at 168th Street and Broadway, encompasses the graduate schools of medicine, dentistry, nursing, and public health, as well as the hospital.
Tours of the Medical Center campus are offered Monday through Friday to student applicants in the interviewing process. To arrange for a tour, call (212) 305-4673.
